:: Gem No. 25: This Life vs. The Life Hereafter ::

Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Ya Ali Madad. This transformational post consists of three parts:

  1. Verse(s) from the Holy Qu'ran;
  2. Timeless Ilm Gem(s) of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.); and
  3. Angelic salwat which is the anchor tasbi for the project.

Part 1: Teachings from the Holy Qu'ran

The following aya (plural of ayat) compare this life to the eternal life:

"What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?"

(Holy Qur'an (Yusufali) 6:032)
"It is He Who gave you life, will cause you to die, and will again give you life: Truly man is a most ungrateful creature!"

(Holy Qur'an (Yusufali) 22:66)
"What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew."

(Holy Qur'an (Yusufali) 29:64)
"O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last."

(Holy Qur'an (Yusufali) 40:39)

Part 2: Timeless Ilm Gem of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.)

In the following saying, NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) teaches us about death and our condition in this world:

"In this world man is a target for the arrow of death, an easy prey of calamities and adversities; here every morsel and every draught is liable to choke one; here one never received a favour until he loses another instead; here every additional day in one's life is a day reduced from the total span of his existence; when death is the natural outcome of life then how can we expect immortality?"

(Nahjul Balagha: Sermons, letters and saying of Hazrat Ali (Second American edition, 1981), Sayings of Hazrat Ali 189, p. 293)

Let us read, reflect and implement these gems of knowledge for our spiritual journey towards our original home, Daras-Salaam. the Abode of Eternal Peace. Noore Karim Mushkil Khusha, Noore Karim Ya Ali Madad, Noore Karim Daras-Salaam!

Part 3: Angelic Salwat
Let us now start fueling our journey on the Ismaili esoteric path of higher spiritual enlightenment with Angelic salwats, dhikr and bandagi. May our beloved Noor Mowlana Hazar Imam continually keep us on the Right Path. Ameen.
