Fourth Night of Holy Ramadan :: Tuesday, September 26, 2006

Ya Ali Madad and Ramadan Mubarak! The 24-hour clock the Muslim calendar starts sunset, therefore, Tuesday, September 26, 2006 is the fourth night of the Holy Ramadan for Ismailis in Canada. This posting for this auspicious fourth night of Holy Ramadan has four parts:

1. Ta'wil of selected words from the Holy Qur'an;
2. A verse from beautiful ginans of our Holy Pirs;
3. Power prayers consisting of Ayatul Kursi and Angelic Salwat; and
4. A list of pertinent web resources for this project.

Part 1: Tawil of the word 'Tamshüna' (You walk or will walk)
"Try to grasp the Qur'anic wisdoms with appreciation and gratitude and in connection with the verses of light, also study (57:28) carefully: "O you who believe, fear Allah and believe in His messenger. He will give you twice as much of His mercy and will appoint for you a light wherein you shall walk and He will forgive you." [Source: Tawil 228: A Thousand Wisdoms] (Pages 121-122)

"Think about these wisdom-filled words: "And He will appoint for you a light wherein you shall walk." Does this light not mean the Imam of the time? Indeed, by this light is meant the Imam of the time. The first condition of attachment is to fear God and duly believe in His messenger, who has brought the Qur'an. Thus, it is clear that it is God Himself who has appointed the Imam from the progeny of Muhammad (s.a.s.) as the light of guidance after the cessation of Prophethood." [Source: Tawil 229: A Thousand Wisdoms] (Page 122)

Part 2: Teaching of Pir Shams
In the following verses of ginan 'Ek shabad suño mere bhai', Pir Shams teaches us that the soul should be given great attention and priority so that it reaches its origin.

Avar chinta muje kiski naahi
Chinta hay mere jivki

I have no concern for anyone else.
I am concerned only for my soul.
7
Jivke kaarañ may sab kuchh chhodiya
May aavi sharañ tamaariya

For the sake of my soul I have forsaken everything.
I have come to take refuge with You.

Please follow this link (http://www.salmanspiritual.com/ramadan_ginans/ginan_04.html) to see the text and the literal translation of the other verses of this ginan. These verses of supplication soften, heal and purify the soul, and prepare it for enlightenment.

Please also note how well these verses of ginan fit with the following excerpt from the convocation address made by NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam at Peshawar University, Pakistan, on November 30, 1967:

"The day we no longer know how, nor have the time nor the faith to bow in prayer to Allah because the human soul that He has told us is eternal is no longer of sufficient importance to us to be worthy of an hour of our daily working, profit-seeking time, will be a sunless day of despair."

Part 3 Power Prayers: Ayatul Kursi (Holy Qur'an 2:255) and Angelic Salwat

Ayatul Kursi (Holy Qur'an 2:255) is the most important ayat of the Holy Qur'an. It is also known as the verse of the Throne. Ayatul Kursi and Angelic Salwat are among the great treasures for preparing for the Golden Jubilee Didar and the Golden Noorani Didar in one's forehead. Real Audio and mp3 sound tracks are available for your convenience.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime,the Tremendous.
