First Night of Holy Ramadan :: Saturday, September 23, 2006

Ya Ali Madad and Ramadan Mubarak! In the Muslim calendar, a new month begins at sunset, therefore, Saturday, September 23, 2006 is the first night of the Holy Ramadan for Ismailis in Canada. This posting for this auspicious first night of Holy Ramadan has four parts:   1. Ta'wil of selected words from the Holy Qur'an; 2. A verse from beautiful ginans of our Holy Pirs; 3. Power prayers consisting of Ayatul Kursi and Angelic Salwat; and 4. A list of pertinent web resources for this project.   Part 1: Tawil of the word 'Kursi' (Throne as applied to the Personal World) "The blessed and sacred body of the Imam of the time is a pure ground on which his pure soul (as the Universal Soul) is a unique kursi (dais, platform) and upon which his perfect intellect (as the Universal Intellect) is the throne of the personal world. This is the meaning of "His (God's) kursi comprises the heaven and the earth" (2:255), as it is also said in the Qur'an that God has encompassed everything in the manifest Imam (36:12)." [Source: Tawil 725: A Thousand Wisdoms] (Page 384) In simple terms, the pure body of the Holy Imam is the ground, his pure soul is a platform and his perfect intellect is the throne. His pure soul represents the Universal Soul and his perfect intellect represents the Universal Intellect. In this manner, everything in the Universe is manifested and actualized in the form of knowledge, wisdom and light in the present and living, true Imam.   Part 2: Teaching of Pir Hasan Kabirdin The following verse is taken from Pir Hasan Kabirdin's Aash Tamari Shri Ho Kayam Sami: Eji Aash kari ne Ya Ali hu(n) tere dar ubhi Kar jodi ne em ma(n)gu(n) Ya Shah Dejo didar tusi mahavar datar Ham tere charane lagu(n) .....8   Ya Ali, keeping great hope in my heart, I am standing waiting on your doorstep With my attached palms I beseech You O my Lord, favour me with Your holy didar I bow down on Your feet, as an act of my submission .....8 If you have the time, please follow this link (http://www.salmanspiritual.com/ramadan_ginans/ginan_01.html) to see the text and the literal translation of the other verses of this ginan. These verses of supplication soften, heal and purify the soul, and prepare it for enlightenment. Part 3 Power Prayers: Ayatul Kursi (Holy Qur'an 2:255) and Angelic Salwat   Ayatul Kursi (Holy Qur'an 2:255) is the most important ayat of the Holy Qur'an. It is also known as the verse of the Throne. Ayatul Kursi and Angelic Salwat are among the great treasures for preparing for the Golden Jubilee Didar and the Golden Noorani Didar in one's forehead. Man-zallazii yashfa-'u'indahuuu 'illaa bi-'iznih? Ya'-lamu maa bayna 'aydiihim wa maa khalfahum. Wa laa yuhiituuna bi-shay-'im-min 'ilmihiii 'illaa bimaa shaaa'. Wasi-'a Kursiyyu-hus-Samaawaati wal-'arz; wa laa ya-'uuduhuu hifzu -humaa wa Huwal-'Aliyyul-'Aziim. Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime,the Tremendous.
