Twenty Seventh Night of Holy Ramadan :: Oct. 30, 2005

Ya Ali Madad! In the Muslim calendar, a new month begins at sunset, therefore, Sunday, October 30, 2005 is the twenty seventh night of the Holy Ramadan for Ismailis in Canada. This posting for this auspicious twenty seventh night of Holy Ramadan has three parts: Part 1 has a gem of knowledge from Pir Pandiyat-i Jawanmardi, or "Advices of Manliness" of Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II; Part 2 has a beautiful verse of ginan composed by Pir Abdul Nabi; and Part 3 has a zikr tasbi which will change every three days.

Let is first read the following esoteric list of noble wishes for 30 days because it is the basis of our ardent supplication to our beloved NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam:

Ya Mowla, Ya Wali, Ya Karim, Ya Ali, Ya NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam:

  1. bless us with faith by sending the bounty of Ruhu'l-iman (i.e., spiritual and luminous particles of the soul of faith) into our personal worlds from your Pure Soul and Eternal Light;
  2. forgive our sins, mistakes and oversights and make us staunch, obedient (farman bardari) mu'mins;
  3. keep us on the Right Path, the path illuminated by the Light of Eternal Ali;
  4. purify our souls through the blessings derived from our additional dhikr and help us live a balanced life;
  5. make us regular in our morning and evening prayers;
  6. bless us with inspiration, strength, courage and conviction to practise luminous prayer (bandagi) at the luminous time (small watches of the night) with the luminious word (bol, ism-i azam or Ya Ali tasbi);
  7. bestow enlightenment to our souls and bless us with a 'golden noorani didar'*;
  8. usher us in the abode of peace (Dar-as-Salaam) and grant us eternal existence. Ameen.

Part 1: Teaching of Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II (a.s.)
In Pir Pandiyat-i Jawanmardi, Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II (a.s.) teaches us how to overcome temptations offered by Satan and act righteously:
"...so says God the All-High: A sincere devotee is one who sees Me as if present before him, whatever he is doing and wherever he is, feeling ashamed to do wrong. If an evil thought appears in his mind, or a desire to do wrong, or eat something that is not lawful to him, — he must at once appeal to Me, and I shall save him from the temptation offered by Satan, and from that evil deed which will be followed by punishment in the hereafter. And I shall cast into his heart the wish to act righteously. He will then act properly, receiving bliss and happiness in the hereafter. His life will pass pleasantly, and death will be pleasant." (Page 24)

Part 2: Teaching of Pir Abdul Nabi
In the following verse from the Ginan, Venati karu(n) chhu(n) Saheb mora, Pir Abdul Nabi teaches us that those momins who practice their faith with conviction will be rewarded with an everlasting kingdom.

Eji Bhai re moman tame bhaave aaraadho
Ne hetesu(n) harine aaj ji
Jeñe ek manthi aapña Saheb sreviya
Te paamiya avichal raaj ji

  O brother believer, adore with earnest intent
and love the Lord today.
Those who worship their Master with singleness of mind
attain the everlasting kingdom.

Part 3: Zikr Tasbi
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu 'alayhi wa-sallam) gave guidance to Muslims and the humanity for material, spiritual and intellectual upliftment. The rewards of glorifying, praising, declaring Allah's unity and His greatness are among the fundamental concepts of Islam. Therefore, let us put this advice into practice by performing the zikr of Allahu Akbar, Subhan Allah, Al-hamdu Lillah, La ilaha illa-llah (Allah is Great, Glory be to Allah, Praise be to Allah, There is no god but Allah). Real Audio sound tracks are provided for your convenience.

A'uzu billahi minashaitanir rajim
I seek refuge in Allah from the outcast Satan.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Peace, barakat, light, taid**, and a 'golden noorani didar'*,
Noorallah Juma

*A 'golden noorani didar' is a didar in which the full glory of Khudavand NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam's LIGHT manifests in one's forehead ('Bhamar Gufa Upar Noor' as taught by Pir Imamdin, 'O believers! the light resides in the region between the two eye brows'.)

**Ta'id is that spiritual and luminous help which is given to Prophets, Imams and the mu'mins of the highest rank, in form of a miraculous kind of knowledge and wisdom, in which spiritual beings speak to them and through visual and auditory allusions and signs, knowledge, wisdom and necessary guidance is given to them.
