Fourth Night of Holy Ramadan :: Oct. 7, 2005
|
Ya Ali Madad! In the Muslim calendar, a new month begins at sunset, therefore, Friday, October 7, 2005 is the fourth night of the Holy Ramadan for Ismailis in Canada. This posting for this auspicious fourth night of Holy Ramadan has three parts: Part 1 has a gem of knowledge from Pir Pandiyat-i Jawanmardi, or "Advices of Manliness" of Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II; Part 2 has two verses from a beautiful ginan of Pir Shams; and Part 3 has a zikr tasbi which will change every three days.
Let us first read the following esoteric list of noble wishes for 30 days because it is the basis of our ardent supplication to our beloved NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam:
Ya Mowla, Ya Wali, Ya Karim, Ya Ali, Ya NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam:
- bless us with faith by sending the bounty of Ruhu'l-iman (i.e., spiritual and luminous particles of the soul of faith) into our personal worlds from your Pure Soul and Eternal Light;
- forgive our sins, mistakes and oversights and make us staunch, obedient (farman bardari) mu'mins;
- keep us on the Right Path, the path illuminated by the Light of Eternal Ali;
- purify our souls through the blessings derived from our additional dhikr and help us live a balanced life;
- make us regular in our morning and evening prayers;
- bless us with inspiration, strength, courage and conviction to practise luminous prayer (bandagi) at the luminous time (small watches of the night) with the luminious word (bol, ism-i azam or Ya Ali tasbi);
- bestow enlightenment to our souls and bless us with a 'golden noorani didar'*;
- usher us in the abode of peace (Dar-as-Salaam) and grant us eternal existence. Ameen.
Part 1: Teaching of Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II (a.s.)
In Pir Pandiyat-i Jawanmardi, Imam NOOR Mowlana Shah Mustansir bi'l-laah II (a.s.) teaches us about external and internal fasts:
|
"The whole year you must fast, just as ordinary Muslims (zahiriyan) fast for one month. The meaning of this fast is austerity. Control yourselves, keep yourselves away from bad qualities, evil and indecent actions and devilish acts, so that the mirror of your hearts may be gradually polished.
...—you must be patient, persevering in austerities, and keeping your inner self fasting as long as you live." (page 59-60)
|
Part 2: Teaching of Pir Shams
In the following verses of ginan 'Ek shabad suño mere bhai', Pir Shams teaches us that the soul should be given great attention and priority so that it reaches its origin.
Avar chinta muje kiski naahi
Chinta hay mere jivki |
|
I have no concern for anyone else.
I am concerned only for my soul. |
7 |
Jivke kaarañ may sab kuchh chhodiya
May aavi sharañ tamaariya |
|
For the sake of my soul I have forsaken everything.
I have come to take refuge with You. |

Please follow this link (http://www.salmanspiritual.com/ramadan_ginans/ginan_04.html) to see the text and the literal translation of the other verses of this ginan. These verses of supplication soften, heal and purify the soul, and prepare it for enlightenment.
Please also note how well these verses of ginan fit with the following excerpt from the convocation address made by NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam at Peshawar University, Pakistan, on November 30, 1967:
"The day we no longer know how, nor have the time nor the faith to bow in prayer to Allah because the human soul that He has told us is eternal is no longer of sufficient importance to us to be worthy of an hour of our daily working, profit-seeking time, will be a sunless day of despair."
Part 3: Zikr Tasbi
The following excerpt from Supplications of Amir al-mu'minin, Hazrat NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) will form a pillar for this project (Source: KHUTBA-81: A lesson about how to pray for His forgiveness, p. 46 Nahjul-Balagha). Please take a moment to read this supplication often in order to gain maximum benefit:
- Lord! Forgive my sins which Thou know better than I.
- Lord! If I repeat these sins please let Thy forgiveness cover them again.
- Lord! I have always promised myself to obey Thy commands and have always broken these promises. Forgive this weakness of mine.
- Lord! I have always declared that I shall come near Thee but my mind (has) opposed this, forgive this fault of my mind.
- Lord! Forgive the sins committed by my eyes. Forgive my vicious and sinful utterances, and forgive my inability to resist temptations. (Ameen)
One of the benefits of salwat tasbi is pardon of sins. Therefore, let us use a bouquet of salwats for the purification of our souls. Real Audio sound tracks are available for your convenience.

I seek refuge in Allah from the outcast Satan.

Al-hamdu lillahi rabbil 'alamin.
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds!
May these gems of knowledge and sincere repentance bring light and barakat into your personal world! Ameen.
Peace, barakat, light, taid**, and a 'golden noorani didar'*,
Noorallah Juma
*A 'golden noorani didar' is a didar in which the full glory of Khudavand NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam's LIGHT manifests in one's forehead ('Bhamar Gufa Upar Noor' as taught by Pir Imamdin, 'O believers! the light resides in the region between the two eye brows'.)
**Ta'id is that spiritual and luminous help which is given to Prophets, Imams and the mu'mins of the highest rank, in form of a miraculous kind of knowledge and wisdom, in which spiritual beings speak to them and through visual and auditory allusions and signs, knowledge, wisdom and necessary guidance is given to them.
