(Evening Project: October 26 to December 13, 2003)

Postings for Days 41 to 49

Date: December 5, 2003
Subject: Anant Naa Nav Chhuga Verses and Divine Names for Day 41

Ya Ali Madad! On Friday evening, the 12th night of Shawwal, we will be reciting verses 1 to 10 of Chhugo number 1 of Anant Naa Nav Chhuga at two Jamat Khanas in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for Friday evening's recitation.

The sixth verse of the first chhugo provides a context for the two granths of Pir Hasan Kabirdin. The Holy Pir composed 500 verses of Anant Akhado and wrote them on cotton-like substance. This was folded into a turban. He then composed 90 verses and made nine tussles (chhugas). In order to present his voluminous work to the Holy Imam, the inspired Pir composed 90 verses of supplication which demonstrate his absolute devotion, humility and submission.

In these verses, the Lord is symbolized as a husband (nar) and the Pir is symbolized as a spiritual wife (nari). All other souls are symbolized as children. Therefore, the Pir becomes the entity which nurtures and educates the Jamat, and prepares them to come closer to the Holy Imam. The sheer responsibility of being a mother was (is) a great burden, therefore after performing intense giryah-u zari and bandagi, the Pir begs the Holy Imam to accept the turban. This physical act of submitting the turban with nine tussles also symbolizes a tremendous amount of humility, love and work, therefore the stakes are really high. Now let us read the verse and its literal meaning.

Âshâji nav chhugâni pâgaj vani
tê kidhi gharni nârji
havê paghadi bâ(n)dho e var râjâ
jê lâvi tamâri nâr
Hari ana(n)t
Oh Lord A turban of nine tussles only has been folded
and it has been done by the (devoted) wife.
Now put on the turban, Oh the Protector King,
the one that has been brought by your wife
Hari You are eternal; 6

The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for Thursday evening's recitation.

In the eighth verse of the seventh chhugo, Pir Hasan Kabirdin teaches us to seek forgiveness for our sins. In spite of his lofty spiritual status, the Holy Pir still seeked forgiveness. The Pir also teaches us that the the Holy Imam is a great forgiver.

As humans we make mistakes but door to forgiveness is still open. As we have to cross the material limits, we have to constantly seek forgiveness with the commitment of not doing the same sins again. Then, slowly and steadily, we will merge into the eternal.

Out of the Divine Names, the following four tie directly to the concept of forgiveness [(Yaa Ghaffaar (No. 14), Yaa Ghaffur (No. 34), Yaa Tawwaab (No. 80) and Yaa 'Afuw (No. 82)]. As we prepare for Khushiyali, let us first seek forgiveness by either reciting the four Divine Names or by reading the following verse of the ginan and its literal meaning. The more we purify, the greater will be our happiness.

Âshâji hu(n) chhu(n) aprâdhan pâpani
tamê chho bakhshanhârji
ba(n)dâ dosâri sadâ aparâdhi
shâhji utâro pâr
Hari ana(n)t 8
Oh Lord I am the greatest sinner
and You are the forgiver
The created being is always sinful
Oh Lord take me across the (material) limits
Hari You are eternal; 8

Subject: Anant Naa Nav Chhuga Verses and Divine Names for Day 48

Ya Ali Madad! On Friday evening, the 19th night of Shawwal, we will be reciting verses 1 to 10 of Chhugo number 8 of Anant Naa Nav Chhuga at two Jamat Khanas in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for Friday evening's recitation.

In the fourth verse of the eighth chhugo, Pir Hasan Kabirdin teaches us to search for the Truth and study the scriptures. The Pir then says that the true Husband (nar) is my Lord and His name is Ali. Thus, the Pir has taught us not only about the physical person, Hazrat Mawlana Ali Amiru-l-Mu'minin ('Alayhi-s-salam), the first Imam who taught the Ta'wil and Ta'lim of Allah's final message and guided the murids, but also about the eternal light of Hazrat Ali. Today, this light is present in Ali-Zaman, Noor Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Husayni Hazir Imam (please recite the holy salwat).

The attributes of the eternal light of Hazrat Ali are given in the ginan 'Haq tu, Pak tu' composed by Pir Shamsh. The attributes of the eternal Ali are: The Truth, The Pure, The Lord, The Gracious, The Cherisher, The Sustainer, The Merciful, The Originator, The Creator, The Maker, The Commander, and the Friend of Pir Shamsh. Please reflect upon this as you go through the list of prayers derived from the 99 Divine Names.

Let us follow the teachings of the Holy Pirs and aim to achieve the status of becoming humble friends (dost), or submitted souls (sevak) or spiritual wives (nari) of Ali Zaman and merge into the eternal light of Hazrat Ali. All the metaphors used by the Holy Pirs lead to the same conclusion.

Âshâji sat karinê jênê shâhnê srevyâ
teni vêd mâ(n)hê chhê sâchi shâ(n)khji
sacho nar mâro sâmi râjo
tênu(n) nâm alakh Aly avtâr
Hari ana(n)t 4
Oh Lord Whoever regards the Lord as the truth and worships Him accordingly
In his/her recitation of the scriptures there is the true link (with the Lord)
The true Husband is my Lord
and His name is the undescriptible Manifestation of Ali
Hari You are eternal; 4

Subject: Anant Naa Nav Chhuga Verses and Divine Names for Day 49

Ya Ali Madad! Salgirah Mubarak! On Saturday evening, the 20th night of Shawwal and the birthday of Ali-Zaman, Noor Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Husayni Hazir Imam, we will be reciting verses 1 to 10 of the final Chhugo (number 9) of Anant Naa Nav Chhuga at two Jamat Khanas in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for Friday evening's recitation.

In the last verse of the nineth chhugo, Pir Hasan Kabirdin pleades for the full acceptance of the turban with nine tussles while standing in front of Imam Islam Shah (a.s.). The whole secret of the eternal was folded in the turban with nine tussles. The Merciful Imam accepted the turban and returned it to the Holy Pir by placing the turban upon him! This was the final and ultimate victory for the Holy Pir. Pir Hasan Kabirdin, the submitted slave (sevak) and spiritual wife (nari) of Ali Zaman, was finally perfected by the Holy Imam and his magnificent works of Anant Akhado and Anant Naa Nav Chhuga were completed accepted by the Imam. This act also symbolizes that the Holy Pir reached monoreality and entered the abode of Peace (Daras Salaam). Al Hamdulillah!

In this context, let us reflect on the quotation from of the 'Memoirs of Aga Khan' (p. 334) by Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah (a.s.):

"I can only say to everyone who reads this book of mine that it is my profound conviction that man must never ignore and leave untended and undeveloped that spark of the Divine which is in him. The way to personal fulfilment, to individual reconciliation with the Universe that is about us, is comparatively easy for anyone who firmly and sincerely believes, as I do, that Divine Grace has given man in his own heart the possibilities of illumination and of Union with Reality. It is, however, far more important to attempt to offer some hope of spiritual sustenance to those many who, in this age in which the capacity of faith is nonexistent in the majority, long for something beyond themselves, even if it seems second-best. For them there is the possibility of finding strength of the spirit, comfort, and happiness in the contemplation of the infinite variety and beauty of the Universe."

Âshâji nav chhugâni shâh pâgaj bâ(n)dho

Oh Lord Put on the entire Turban of nine tussles
The spiritual wife pleaded while standing
The eternal was folded inside it
The (Imam, the Lord) granted it to Hassan Shah in its entirety (by placing the Turban on him)
Hari You are eternal; 10

Please follow the hyperlinks to recite these names 33 times in a tasbi format. This completes our course of learning the 99 tasbis derived from Divine Names.

Subject: Salgirah Mubarak and the Importance of the Holy Imam on Earth

Ya Ali Madad and Salgirah Mubarak! On the occasion of our beloved Mowlana Hazir Imam's birthday, may the peace and baraka of his NOOR be on you, your family, your Jamat and the Worldwide Jamat. Ameen.

Salgirah 2003 is very special to the members of the Edmonton Jamat because it marks the culmination of the 49-day project of recition of the two granths, Anant Akhado and Anant Naa Nav Chhuga, composed by Pir Hasan Kabirdin. We started this 49-day project on Chandaat, October 26, 2003. Inshallah, it will be completed by Saturday evening. As the Holy Ginans contain the tawil of the Holy Quran, we recited the esoteric version of the Holy Quran in our own language over a period of 49 days which included the holy month of Ramadhan.

This year, Al-Waez Rai Amiraly Amlani has once again produced a beautiful Salgirah Mubarak card which is posted on our website. It has a powerful message about the the presence of the Holy Imam on this Earth. The link to this page is http://www.salmanspiritual.com/Salgirah_03.html.

I am deeply indebted to some very unique forward-looking leaders, supporters, participants, team members, friends, the virtual audience, and my family for their prayers, well wishing, continual support, encouragement and feedback. Al-Waez Rai Amiraly Amlani's Salgirah card marks the culmination of the 49-day project with a powerful hadith of our Prophet:

"If the world were to be without the presence of the Imam of the Time even for an instant, it would perish with its entire poplulation."

May our beloved NOOR Mowlana Hazir Imam grant you, your family, your Jamat and the worldwide Jamat luminous (noorani) and spiritual (ruhani) ta'id (help) to advance materially, spiritually and intellectually, and may He grant you the inner vision of the Truth. Ameen.

Peace, light, barakat and taid,
Noorallah Juma
