Subject: Anant Akhado Verses and Divine Names for Day 13

Ya Ali Madad! Today is the 12th fast of Holy Ramadhan. On the 13th night of Holy Ramadhan, we will be reciting verses 151 to 162 of Anant Akhado. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for this evening's recitation. Also, I am highlighting the 25th and the 26th Divine name in this posting.

The gist of verse 155 is: Submission (not payment) of dasond leads to enlightenment. Dasond (tithe) is a requirement in all great religions. Please also read the Chandraat message of Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah (a.s). The first line begins with the following words "Samagrah Khara Ismailio Jog" which means "To all TRUE Ismailis". Please reflect why the Holy Imam used the word 'Khara' (True) in his message and then read the meaning of verse 155 of Anant Akhado.

In addition to physical submission, dasond is submitted in the form of time at a higher level and knowledge at the highest level. Thus, the submission of dasond increases with awareness and knowledge.

Âshâji kharâ khotânâ pârkhâ(n) thâshê
tamê munivar chêtinê châloji
daso(n)d vinâ muar ukhdinê jâshe
jashê tê ghor a(n)dhâr
Hari ana(n)t 155
Oh Lord There will be an accountability of the true and the false.
Therefore, be on guard.
Without the submission of tithe, a believer will be uprooted
and will be in utter darkness.
Hari You are eternal; 155

Subject: Anant Akhado Verses and Divine Names for Day 17

Ya Ali Madad! Today is the 16th fast of Holy Ramadhan. On the 17th night of Holy Ramadhan, we will be reciting verses 201 to 212 of Anant Akhado. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for this evening's recitation. Also, I am highlighting the 33rd and the 34th Divine name in this posting.

In verse 212, the experiences of Pir Sadardin and his son (Pir) Hasan Kabirdin are described. Pir Sadardin was meditating and supplicating to overcome the 'iron' wall, while his young son was being inspired to inscribe the praises of the Lord, inch by inch, on the turban. This whole process took six months and six days.

This is an example of the arduous journey that our Holy Pirs took to create ginanic works in the Sat-Panth period of our history. Through these spiritually inspired works, our ancestors became Ismailis. This wonderful tradition of the Holy ginans also contains the tawil of the Holy Quran in our own language and is still relevant to the Jamats which have originated from the Indo-Pak subcontinent.

Âshâji chh mâs lagan tapaj kidhâ

lakhyâ tê shâhnê farmân
Hari ana(n)t 211
Oh Lord He (Peer Sadardin) supplicated for a period of six months.
During the same period (I) made the turban.
On it I inscribed the praises (of the Lord) inch by inch.
I inscribed them according to the Holy farmaan (spiritual inspiration)
Hari You are eternal; 211

Subject: Anant Akhado Verses and Divine Names for Day 18

Ya Ali Madad! Today is the 17th fast of Holy Ramadhan. On the 18th night of Holy Ramadhan, we will be reciting verses 213 to 225 of Anant Akhado. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for this evening's recitation. Also, I am highlighting the 35th and the 36th Divine name in this posting.

In verse 218, Pir Hasan Kabirdin says that sins cause a burden upon the soul and makes it sink and drown. Such souls would lose the true path and be lost. Therefore, the Holy Pir is supplicating to the Holy Imam to save the drowning souls.

The following hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) shows that tauba (seeking forgiveness) brings one closer to God:

"(Hazrat) Ali reported God's messenger as saying,
"God loves the believing servant who is severely tried and is penitent."

This concept is also captured in verse 116 of Anant Akhado. Therefore, forgiveness of sins and the commitment of not doing the same sins again, is a major theme for Lailtul Qadr.

Âshâji gunê bharyâ jivaj budê
tênê bahâraj kâdhoji
nahi to jivdâ bhuli jâshê
jâshê tê avar mârag
Hari ana(n)t 218
Oh Lord Souls that are filled with sins are drowning
save them from being completely drowned
Otherwise the souls will lose the true path
and will go astray
Hari You are eternal; 218

Subject: Anant Akhado Verses and Divine Names for Day 19

Ya Ali Madad! Today is the 18th fast of Holy Ramadhan. On the 19th night of Holy Ramadhan, we will be reciting verses 226 to 237 of Anant Akhado. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for this evening's recitation. Also, I am highlighting the 37th and the 38th Divine name in this posting.

In verse 236, Pir Hasan Kabirdin describes the subtle body of momins in paradise. The purified momins will have luminous body which will shine like gold. Spiritually and intellectually these momins will be blessed with ilm-u-laduni (given knowledge). The speech of these souls will be purifed and sweet.

The concept of knowledge has been described in the following quotation of Imam Shah Karim al-Husayni, also known as Aga Khan IV, on the occasion of the acceptance of the Charter of the Aga Khan University in Karachi on March 16, 1983:

"In Islamic belief, knowledge is twofold. There is that revealed through the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) and that which man discovers by virtue of his own intellect. Nor do these two involve any contradiction, provided man remembers that his own mind is itself the creation of God. Without this humility, no balance is possible. With it, there are no barriers. Indeed one strength of Islam has always lain in its belief that creation is not static but continuous, that through scientific and other endeavors, God has opened and continues to open new windows for us to see the marvels of His creation."

In order to develop a balance between the material and spiritual dimensions of one's existence, two different kinds of knowledge are necessary. The first is related to the physical world and is acquired through cultural learning and life-long education. The second is related to the spiritual world and is given to a person. Pir Hasan Kabirdin has described the state of a soul which has been bestowed with given knowledge (ilm-u-laduni).

Âshâji sahunê hâthê mânak moti
zalkê hirâ apârji
sonâ kêri kâyâ zalkê
hoshê amrat vânI
Hari ana(n)t 236
Oh Lord In everyone's hands there are jewels and pearls

and the speech will be sweet (truthful)

Subject: Anant Akhado Verses and Divine Names for Day 20

Ya Ali Madad! Today is the 19th fast of Holy Ramadhan. On the 20th night of Holy Ramadhan, we will be reciting verses 238 to 250 of Anant Akhado. The hyperlink given below will lead you to all the verses and their literal meaning for this evening's recitation. Also, I am highlighting the 39th and the 40th Divine name in this posting.

In verse 236, Pir Hasan Kabirdin describes the meeting of souls at a big gathering. The barakat of the Lord will sustain these souls.

Âshâji sên saghalu(n) hâli châli malshê
jêm sarovar nadiyê nirji
pahêlê din to pâni poho(n)chê
bijê din rahêmat shahni
Hari ana(n)t 239
Oh Lord All the regiments of the army will meet
in the same manner as all the water in the rivers meeting the lake.
On the first day water (physical sustenance) will reach them
and on the second day mercy (spiritual help) of the Lord will reach them
Hari You are eternal; 239

For the 20th night and the 20th day of Holy Ramadhan, the names are Al-Muqit (The Sustaining One) and Al-Hasib (The Reckoning One). Please follow the hyperlinks to recite these names 33 times in a tasbi format.
